Slow Progress - New Projects

Well, I haven't accomplished much on the miniature front this week, or any other front for that matter.  That's my excuse for the lack of pictures.

Quick update:  Interior design has begun on the Newport.  This weekend I pulled out a trunk of old furniture to see what I could salvage.  The furniture wasn't quality items to begin with and I hadn't taken very good care of them so there wasn't much.  I was able to pull a few pieces out of the rubble and I'll find a home for them soon enough.  Here's a table I rescued and a picture of how bright my chandelier is.

I also found my mini sewing machine that I thought was lost, a bucket of spilled paint, some cats and a dog, and a hutch to repair.  For the most part I'll be furnishing this house from scratch.  Let the shopping begin.

If you noticed, in the photo I have yet to pick out wallpaper.  The kit came with a package but I may use those for another house I'm planning, more on that in a moment.  I have a large supply of scrapbook paper that I sorted through and found a few designs small enough to use.  The problem is that I don't have enough sheets of any single design.  So I'll either have to be creative or go pick up extra sheets, hoping that these designs are still stocked.  If you have any tips on wallpapering dollhouses please share.  I can always use extra insight and it may save me a few hours researching every little detail on my own.

After all that, I hit designer's block and couldn't make any decisions on the Newport.  So I pulled out the Lily.  This house was a gift to my mother a few years back.  It sat for a long while before she "commissioned" someone to build it for her.  Well, that was a waste of time.  When we finally got it back (over a year later) nothing had been accomplished.  I spent Sunday sorting and organizing the kit, since he managed to punch out a good portion of pieces, and taking inventory.  I discovered that 7 pieces had been lost.  Ughhhh!! I'll have to order replacements for those.

In all, I did a whole lot of nothing.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Chandelier in 1:12 Scale

Now that all my Thanksgiving eating has digested, I'm here to share my latest project.  I saw a tutorial video on YouTube by GardenofImagination on making working mini chandeliers.  Here's my attempt.  Isn't it cute?

Here are some pictures of my process, but this is in no way a tutorial.  GOI did an excellent job explaining how to make them so if your interested check out her video.  I'll be back with more pictures once it's installed in the Newport.

I used a vise drill to put a hole in the center of the Jewelry thing.  I couldn't find any large bead caps as suggested.

Thread the light through the cap.

Hang your beads and viola!

It works!

PS- Please forgive the quality, or lack there of, of these picture.  My "real" camera was not available.

Fairies Welcome!

Have you heard the phrase "If you build it they welcome come."?  I'm hoping "it" means a fairy house because that what I built.

And a look at the inside...

The house measures 5.5'' x 4'' x 6.5''

My mom even joined me and made a house of her own.  Now we just have to wait for "them".

And before I forget... I'd like to say WELCOME to my 1st follower, Casey from Casey's Minis and you too Tessie!!

Mini Break

I took a break from the Newport for a few days to focus on making minis.  You'll be able to track my progress on the house here, The Newport, soon... I promise.

These are some of my first minis.  I'm please with most of them.  Let me know what you think, I'll keep practicing.

Mac Venomous Villains - Haul and Swatches

Well guys, the newest MAC collection debuted in stores and on counters today. MAC's and Disney's collaboration - Venomous Villains.  The new collection features 3 of Disney's classic villainesses and a new dude on the block.  There's the Evil Queen from Snow White, Cruella DeVil from 101 Dalmatians, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and the newly famed Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog.

I went over to Macy's and picked up just a few things.  No major haul for me.  Although initially I was uber excited as weeks past waiting for the collection to launch my list got smaller and smaller.  I guess that's a good thing because my bank account tends to flow in the same general direction.  Anyway enough babble.

Disney + MAC must equal ecstasy? Right?  Well you be the judge.

Booties and Cleaves, Oh My!

Get your mind out of the gutter ;0).  I just want to share some of my past knitting projects.  This post will probably be few and far between because I'm a slow knitter and tend to lay my work down for weeks at a time.  Here's some projects that I actually finished.  Hope you like them.

Genesis

This is the beginning.

Welcome to my blog.  However you stumbled across it, whether accidentally or not I hope you find something on here interesting enough for you to comment on or come back.

I'm not exactly sure what I want to focus on if anything at all.  My interests are as vast as the stars in sky, well depending on where you live.  Here in the city I'm lucky to see 3 stars at night so that metaphor actually wouldn't work.  What I'm trying to say is that I have MANY interests.  Makeup, knitting, nail polish, makeup,  shopping, scrapbooking, card making and maybe more makeup.  What can I say? I'm a girly girl who likes to build, knit, and craft.  Isn't that normal?

All randomness aside, I'm hoping I can stick to this blog thing.  I know in the beginning, as it is now, it'll be like talking to a wall.  But hopefully, a good number of you will read this, decide to comment and bring some life and excitement into my posts.  A blogger has to have followers or else the blog is just a diary online, FAIL.  So...help me be a BLOGGER! Comment and come back often.  You might like it here.
